Chris represents clients in litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and transactional matters. As a trial attorney he represents clients in domestic disputes, including divorce, custody, and support issues; defense of criminal proceedings; the prosecution and defense of business disputes; and probate and estate matters.  He has represented clients at all phases of dispute resolution, including pre-litigation negotiations, administrative investigations, pre-trial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, trial, and appeal.

In addition to trial work, Chris provides counseling to clients seeking to identify and minimize the risk of future litigation.  Finally, Chris assists clients with their estate planning needs.

Prior to forming Brown, Barbour, & Thrailkill, P.C., Chris was a partner in this Firm’s predecessor, Miller & Brown, P.C.  Chris also worked for four years as a Staff Attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. While with the Court, Chris served as the personal staff attorney for the Honorable Emmett Ripley Cox. After leaving the Court, Chris worked in Atlanta, Georgia as an employment and litigation associate with an international law firm.

Chris is a member in good standing of both the State Bar of Georgia and the Florida Bar. After serving the Fayette County Bar Association for several years in various leadership positions, Chris was elected by the attorney members to serve as the 2012 President of the Fayette County Bar Association.

Chris understands the effects litigation has on your entire family, not only the individual parties involved. Chris endeavors to resolve issues without timely, costly, and invasive litigation. From a statistical standpoint, Chris assists his client’s in resolving domestic issues prior to trial in over 75% of his cases. Nevertheless, for those cases that are unable to settle prior to trial, Chris is a zealous advocate and knowledgeable with the trial process.  Chris will put his extensive experience to work for you.
